Running for Katerini

The 10th Katerini 8K Road Race is coming on Sunday, September 24th, promising us a unique running experience. This grand celebration of sports and culture returns as part of the official program of the city’s liberation festivities, welcoming everyone!

The race kicks off at 11:00 AM from the well-known starting point at Platanodasos in Neokaisareia, concluding at the central square of Katerini (Freedom Monument). A multitude of spectators is expected to give their warmest applause to the runners. Participation in the race is free of charge.

Once again, the children from “Merimna Paidiou Katerinis” will open the event for “Running for Katerini.”

The route is flat and paved throughout, taking you from Platanodasos Neokaisareia to Svoronos – 7th Merarchias – Pedestrian Street – M. Alexandrou – Central Square (Freedom Monument). The race experience will be enriched with music from various local musical groups and associations, as well as the Katerini Music School. Radio Amateurs Association of Pieria will handle race information flow during the event.

The 10th Katerini 8K Road Race is organized by the Municipality of Katerini (Communication/Press Department), the Organization of Education, Culture, Sports & Welfare (O.P.P.A.P.), and the Athletic and Cultural Association of Pieria’s Runners “ZEUS.” The race is held under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Katerini, Kitros, and Platamonas, and the Hellenic Federation of Mass Popular Sports – Ultra Distances (H.F.M.P.S.U.D.). The crucial support of the Neokaisareia Local Community and the Svorono Municipal Community is indispensable, as always.
