On the heroes’ steps, is a historic race coming on July 29 & 30. This summer, we are re-living the story of the 7.000 Greeks led by Leonidas in a battle against hundreds of thousands of Persis, that has left a mark in history.
The 6th race “On the heroes’ steps” of the Battle of Thermopylae and 2 relay races of 2 or of 4 people will take place in Thespies. This event comes to life for the 6th year thanks to the Municipalities of Aliartos-Thespies, Levadeia, Amphikleia-Tithorea-Elateia, Kammena Vourla, Lamia, and the A.P.S. “APOLLON” of West Attica, under the auspices of the Region of Central Greece and EOSLMA-Y.
Make sure to keep in mind that the start of the 102km race and the 2 relay races will take place on Saturday, July 29th at 20:00 at the Monument of Demofilos in Thespiae. Also, don’t forget that participants are expected to complete the race within 16 hours The finish line is at the Monument of the Heroes in Thermopylae.
Now… To ensure safety during evening hours, here’s some things you want to keep in mind; the runners for evening hours will be required to wear headlamps and reflective vests both in the front and back.
On the heroes’ steps is a highly significant and meaningful competition that honors history for the 6th time. Athletes will have the opportunity to compete in a historic race, having the spirits of heroes guiding their way to the finish line.
