The Hellenic Mountaineering Club of Thessaloniki (EOSTH) invites you to the 35th Olympus Mountain Marathon. This unique running experience combines a love for the mountains, nature, and the challenge of endurance. This year, on September 14 and 15, 2024, the mythical Mount Olympus, the “home of the 12 gods,” will be the backdrop for a special athletic event.
A Historic Route Through Enchanting Scenery
Since 1986, the Olympus Mountain Marathon has been more than just a race; it is a celebration of mountaineering and mountain running. The race route, approximately 39.5 kilometers long, starts from the “Dimitris Bountolas” refuge at Stavros, ascends to the Plateau of the Muses at 2,650 meters, and ends in Litochoro. With a total elevation gain and descent of 2,800 meters, it offers participants an unparalleled experience that combines sports with exploring nature.
Three Races for All Endurance Levels
1. Mountain Marathon 39.5 km: A challenging course for the most daring athletes, starting on September 15, 2024, at 7:00 a.m., with a duration of 11 hours.
2. 15 km Race: A medium-difficulty race combining forest roads and mountain trails with a total elevation gain and descent of 1,300 meters. It will start on September 14, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., with a duration of 4 hours.
