4th Race “Running for Floga – Every Step is a Battle for Life”

The Educational Association of Thesprotiko, in co-organization with the Regional Unit of Preveza and the Municipality of Ziros, is organizing the 4th Race titled “Running for Floga – Every Step is a Battle for Life” on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 18:30.

The race routes include 5.5 km and 10 km races, as well as a 5.5 km walking race and an 800-meter children’s race. The start and finish will take place at the Thesprotiko Sports Ground.

The initial idea of this event remains unchanged: to showcase our region for the fourth consecutive time, to promote mass public sports and volunteerism, to satisfy the runners and their companions, and to offer them an unforgettable Saturday afternoon in our hospitable village.

However, the main goal of the event is to support the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Disease “Floga”. For this purpose, there will be a donation box where everyone can contribute financially as they wish. Since 1982, Floga has been lighting up and warming the hearts of children with cancer throughout the country, supporting their families and fighting for better medical, psychological, and social care for the sick children.

Route Descriptions:

• 5.5 km race: 1 km on asphalt, 2 km on a dirt path with a gentle ascent, a steep descent in the middle of the mountain, 2.5 km on asphalt to the finish.

• 10 km race: 1 km on asphalt, 3.5 km on a dirt path with a gentle ascent, 5.5 km on asphalt.

Supply Stations:

• For the 5.5 km race and the walking race, there will be 2 supply stations.

• For the 10 km race, there will be 3 supply stations.

After the race, the organizers have arranged for a meal to be provided to the athletes and their companions and to meet all their needs.
