The largest sports event in the region, the 2nd Patras Night Half Marathon “FANIS TSIMIGKATOS”, is returning for the second time. This sports and social event will take place in Patras on Sunday, October 21, 2023, with the start scheduled for 19:00 at the South Park.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Patras on a flat, asphalt route that crosses the city’s waterfront within the urban scenery. With continuous visual contact with the sea and historic buildings in the area, such as the Patron Saint St. Andrew and the Rio-Antirrio Bridge, participants will have a unique experience.
The races that will take place are:

the Half Marathon (21.1 km) starting at 19:00.

the 5 km Race starting at 17:30.

the Children’s Race 1 km starting at 17:00.
The route is certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and will be closely monitored by the authorities, with support stations available for athletes throughout the races.
Patras honors the memory of the incomparable athlete of the Patras athletics scene and not only, the unforgettable Fanis Tsimigkatos of the Night Half Marathon.
Fanis Tsimigkatos was born in Patras in 1947 and passed away on May 1, 2015. He was an outstanding long-distance endurance athlete who significantly contributed to Patras’ recognition through his achievements. Fanis Tsimigkatos served Panachaiki and was a member of the national team. He won the national championship in the Marathon five times, with victories not only in the classic Athens Marathon but also in international races.
